The Manager's Stance on The Scottish Club

The Ipswich boss referred to Celtic as "an enormous soccer institution" but emphasized he is "deeply involved" of a "long-term project" with the Championship side.

The 39-year-old assumed control of Ipswich in recent years and guided the team to the Premier League with back-to-back promotions, but they managed only a handful of victories last campaign as they were demoted back to the second division and they presently occupy 12th in England's second tier.

"I have not had such discussions," the London-born ex- Irish young player said when asked about being on Celtic's shortlist.

"This isn't a matter I have considered seriously, or where any part of my focus is currently.

"I possess a unique position here at a special club. And we're at a really important phase of the campaign. Anything external hasn't touched my awareness."

Background and Agreement Details

It has been suggested that McKenna would be open to speaking to the Scottish side given his childhood support.

"During youth, we all have our affinities," he said when asked about those. "It's unlikely everyone has to publicly and announce what they used to be, but naturally it's a really big sports organization."

The coach signed a fresh four-year contract in last year and was questioned about his reported buyout clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are provisions," he responded. "I don't know what mine are and, if I did, I wouldn't disclose you anyway!

"I tackle this role like I'll be Ipswich manager forever. I know that's not invariably going to be the case, but I will consistently give maximum effort as long as I remain in position."

Bellamy's Position

The former striker represented the Hoops on temporary transfer from the Magpies in 2005, but the ex- Welsh striker is minded to complete the ongoing World Cup qualification, a position that would practically eliminate the mid-forties from assuming the Glasgow position.

The Welsh squad are currently third in their World Cup group behind group toppers Belgium and runners-up Macedonia.

Wins over Liechtenstein and North Macedonia in next month would book their position in the final qualifying round, but they are virtually assured of reaching that stage, thanks to a successful Nations League campaign, should they not finish as Group J runners-up.

Considering his current stance, Bellamy, whose agreement concludes after the European Championship, would not be available until following the play-offs at the earliest.
