Nigel Farage Accuses Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues

The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike shortly after a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “harming young minds” by telling students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, Farage outlined his viewpoint on British schools, claiming that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I expect a walkout by educators soon after winning the next general election,” he remarked during a Q&A session.

“They are corrupting young minds. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is a victim and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”

Reacting to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede rejected the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.

“Farage has built his public life on dog-whistle politics and currently, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their unions for a fight,” Kebede stated.

“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, including education … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”

The party, which is leading the polls by a significant margin, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and seems not to have designated an education lead.

However, Farage’s remarks indicated the party would overhaul the educational framework. He said: “We have got a massive job with education – truly monumental. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”

Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Paying tribute to a conservative activist, Farage said: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind as opposed to current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”

Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

The politician has charged the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted through education, their minds should be poisoned about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash teenagers against Reform.

Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has about 450,000 members.

National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for children.

During the American gathering, Farage also vowed to promote the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He stated such groups were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I am serious. I’ll assist garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to these educational programs. I pledge this tonight and I will follow through.”

The college, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. Its website states: “Comprehensive learning is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. It offers these beautiful courses for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
