England Coach Southee Unsure on The Ashes Availability
Tim Southee's most recent Test for the Kiwis was versus the English side in the final month of 2024.
England bowling consultant Southee is currently evaluating what his involvement will be at the forthcoming Ashes series in Australia.
The ex- Kiwi pace bowler is expected to be present for the opening match due to his participation in the ILT20 competition, which begins on 2 December in the UAE.
The 36-year-old, 36, assumed a position as the English team's pace bowling advisor in the summer after claiming 391 wickets in 107 Tests for the Kiwis.
Commenting as the English squad for the first of three T20 matches against New Zealand was named, Southee said of his participation: "We're still working through that at the moment.
"We will determine what happens over the coming days."
England bowling legend Stuart Broad had stated the Australian side as their "worst team since 2010", but the consultant was in no uncertainty over the anticipated challenge during the contest, which starts on November 21.
"In my view there's at any time a bad Australian cricket team," he said.
"Our focus is squarely on our own objectives. I think the quality of [England's] team that's heading out to Australia is excellent.
"It should be an absolute cracker, that series. Not only [are|do] fans from both nations eagerly anticipate it, I believe the entire cricketing community is."
However, prior to the English team travel to Perth for the first Ashes match, they face the Kiwis in Christchurch on this Saturday.
