Brian Eno Urges Support to Propel Together for Palestine Song to UK Christmas No 1.

A campaign is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the Christmas number one spot. The project aims to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Unlikely Coup"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a chance to support Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“It would be fantastic if that occurred, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it fails to, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”

Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.

“The song holds a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti explained. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Track's Background and Featured Artists

The single was laid down in the wake of a solidarity show held in late summer. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the piece was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.

The diverse array of musicians appearing on Lullaby encompasses a selection of prominent voices from the industry. All were part of the benefit event, which managed to collect a considerable total for relief efforts.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was crafted by a team of music creators. The song features a combination of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.

The group managing the campaign have stated that their objective is to generate maximum funds for a dedicated fund. These donations will be allocated to projects in Palestine through an partnering humanitarian organization.

“We haven't set a specific target,” a representative said. “We aim for the maximum achievable. Of course, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”

The reality in the territory was described as its widespread damage, with a vast majority of infrastructure said to be in ruins or severely impacted.

“Against that backdrop, a couple of million won't make an enormous impact. But I think what truly matters is first of all making this cause better known and showing that another narrative exists.”

The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a digital service from the 19th of December.
