AC Shadows Reveals Unexpected Attack on Titan Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a unexpected partnership that defies usual forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including free additional story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Mission Uncovered
According to the official release, "A strange encounter pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where whispers of prohibited ceremonies and monstrous transformations echo through the obscurity." The storyline presents a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a hidden group.
The adventure focuses on "peculiar experiments and a terrifying adversary" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Iconic Locations and Transformations
The preview highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser ends with a striking scene showing a character, presumably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Items and Extra Features
Players who finish the quest will obtain an exclusive katana alongside numerous artifacts hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Exclusive arms
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Update
This patch also introduces the game's latest free story episode, titled "The Mystery." This playful adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature abilities: Naoe reveals a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Previous Anime Crossovers
This represents not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime properties. The series earlier showcased a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally contained a quest that obviously referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
